You are changing a kid’s life with books!

Study after study shows that when kids have books at home, they do better in school. But the sad truth is that there are many kids, right here in King County, with empty bookshelves. I know that seems beyond imagining — life without books — but that’s the reality for some kids, even your neighbors.

You can change that. Here at the King County Library System, we can get quality, age-appropriate books into the hands of a child during our summer programs.  It costs just $14.22 to give a kid a book — to keep and read for years to come.

Last summer, thousands of kids got free books and meals from the library. For some, the first book they’ve ever owned. For even more kids, it was a steady meal when school lunches aren’t there to fill in the gap. It’s only possible because of people like you.
