Send Love. Support Libraries.
What It’s All About
We’re inviting students, teachers, and families to share what libraries mean to them by writing or drawing a Love Letter to Libraries. This countywide campaign is our way of celebrating creativity, literacy, and community. The voices of your students can help inspire others across King County!
How It Works
1. We provide:
A collection box and a supply of Love Letter cards.
Simple instructions and signage
Drop off and pickup of all supplies from KCLSF Staff or Volunteers
2. You choose how to participate:
Each school is welcome to make the project their own — whether that means placing the box in a common area, incorporating the cards into library visits, or using them for a classroom writing or art activity. Students are also welcome to decorate the box to make it their own!
Students can write about their favorite library memories, a book that inspired them, or what they love most about visiting the library. They can also draw pictures, write poems, or share messages of thanks to their local librarians. All expressions are welcome!
3. We handle the rest:
The KCLS Foundation team will collect boxes in January and include your students’ letters in a countywide display at the Bellevue Library during the 2026 Literary Lions Gala.
Why Participate
Encourages creative expression and literacy for all ages.
Celebrates your school’s connection to the public library system.
Highlights the vital role of educators and librarians in fostering a love of reading.
Your students’ letters will join thousands of others from libraries, businesses, and fellow schools, together celebrating the many ways libraries inspire creativity and connection.
Timeline
December 2025 – January 2026
We’ll work with each participating school to coordinate delivery and pickup dates. While the Love Letters won’t be in KCLS libraries until December, we can schedule an earlier delivery to work with your school’s curriculum.
