Send Love. Support Libraries.
Across King County, people of all ages are writing Love Letters to Libraries. These handwritten notes, drawings, and poems celebrate the joy and connection that libraries bring to our community. The project is organized by the KCLS Foundation, which promotes literacy, learning, and libraries by providing support beyond public funding for initiatives and resources that enable the King County Library System to better serve the needs of our community.
Participation is easy. Pick up a Love Letter card at any KCLS Library, school, or participating business. Write or draw your message at home or on the spot. Return your completed card to a Love Letters collection box at any KCLS Library. Every card will become part of a growing collection that highlights how libraries make a difference in daily life.

Why Love Letters?
Libraries spark curiosity, foster belonging, and connect people of all ages and backgrounds. Your Love Letter is more than a note—it’s part of a countywide celebration of the many ways libraries shape our lives. Together, thousands of voices will show just how powerful our libraries are.
Who Can Participate?
Everyone is invited! Love Letters can be written or drawn by:
Kids discovering the joy of reading
Teens and young adults who found study space, technology, or mentorship at the library
Parents and caregivers who found storytime, resources, or support
Seniors who rely on library programs, technology access, or Mobile Services
Anyone who simply loves their library!
Letters can be written in any language, and drawings or poems are encouraged.
What Businesses Gain by Participating
Local businesses are helping make this campaign possible by hosting Love Letter boxes. Their support connects neighbors, customers, and community members to the joy of libraries. Each participating business will be featured on this map, with their logo on this page and their location pinned on the map above.
Can’t Make It to a Location?
For accessibility, online submissions will be available later in the campaign. But whenever possible, we encourage handwritten letters at your local library or participating site—it makes the display even more meaningful.
What Happens Next?
Every Love Letter will be collected, scanned, and celebrated. In March 2026, they’ll be displayed together as a vibrant, visible testament to the power of libraries across King County.
